iPhone & iPad cons and scams

Let me start by making it clear that this article does not infer that iPhones or iPads are a con or scam, it is the fact, that Apple make such fantastic products that I am using them as an example. You can only get conned if you are looking for something that everybody has and you cannot find one.

Ok let’s talk about the con! With all the great new products that are coming into the market today like iPhones and iPads it gives people even more opportunities to con you.

The reason for this is, that in your mind you tell yourself that you just have to have one, and at any cost. That is what the conmen are expecting you to think, and this is what they do to con you:

The biggest con is the one based around online buy and sell sites. Conmen will advertise that that they have been buying items in bulk and can sell them, fast, at a cheap price.

You can end up with an empty box being delivered to your home

Next, there’s the “unwanted present” con. This can be for real but often, what they haven’t told you is they have just purchased the product from a store using a stolen credit card. As a conman, your objective is to generate as much cash from the product that you have bought with that stolen card. So, they target products that have high demand and that are difficult to get hold of. This of course gives them a higher rate of potential income for the crime.

My advice:

Always try your best to keep safe. Buying on-line can sometimes not be all that it seems. I am not saying you cannot get great deals on-line; you can, but look out for:

  • Things that are too good to be true
  • If it is not for sale in the shops it can’t be sale on the internet in the box either as new or unopened.
  • Now I love this one! Apple iPhone unwanted present, unopened!

Give me a break! Who in their right mind would get a present and not take a look and open the box!
Please be really careful and do not let your heart rule your head. I hope my advice has helped

All the best
